Jennifer Love Hewitt says she's peeved about her pet project, "In the Game," not getting picked up by ABC for the fall season.

"I created the series for ABC, we shot the pilot, we did not get picked up. Then they just recently came back and now it might get picked up," Hewitt tells Zap2it.com. "We're not sure. We're in flux.

"So, I just kind of put it out of my mind."

In the pilot, the former "Party of Five" actress plays a young single mom and producer who becomes an on-air personality for a sports channel against her wishes. Ed O'Neill also stars.

"This is particularly something that I wanted to do," says Hewitt, who also happens to be a football fan. "It was an idea I had, something I created with these great writers, a part I really wanted to play, something that I thought would be enjoyed by many different types of people."

The comedy may be a midseason replacement for ABC, but meanwhile Hewitt is finishing up a movie in England called "The Truth About Love" and then is filming the "Musical Christmas Carol" for NBC with Kelsey Grammer. Also a singer (she's big in Japan), Hewitt will also sing a few songs with Gordon Ballard coming up and hopes to work with Usher or Bonnie Raitt in the near future.

Her latest film, "Garfield," opens in theaters nationwide on Friday, June 11.
